From May 1, 2016 the Bulstat Register Act entered into force, according to which it is already a single, electronic, centralized, publicly available free database containing circumstances subject to entry for all registered entities. There is an electronic account for each of them where applications, documents certifying recorded circumstances and other documents are applied.
In connection to the amendments, the requirement for the issuance of identification cards has been eliminated as their information will be available on the internet page www.bulstat.bg
Given the necessity to reduce the administrative burden on citizens and businesses, an obligation for the Court, the state and local authorities, the persons entrusted with the exercise of public function (as for example notaries, lawyers, private bailiffs) or organizations providing public services, including banks, has been introduced. It consists in the verification of officially registered circumstances for a particular person and the prohibition to request written reports or certificates. The prohibition applies also to principals acting under PPA and the penalty for officials who go against it is to the amount of 100 levs to 500 levs.
